What makes a space feel real? What makes an object appear to sturdily occupy space? What common aspects anchor us to our everyday experience?
And how can Art manipulate those elements to create new realities, new objects, novel spaces and ways to inhabit them?
Vanessa Irzyk creates “charismatic shapes” through painting and paper craft that challenge our sense of space. Her works simultaneously project and recede, straddling objecthood, image and architectural intervention, able to be looked through and upon.
